Sarasota man charged with stabbing man on Siesta Key

SARASOTA -- A Sarasota man faces charges he stabbed another man during an argument on Siesta Key, according to Sarasota police.

About 9 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1400 block of Siesta Drive. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying at the base of the bridge master's building in the middle of Siesta Bridge.

"The victim told officers he had argument with the suspect about where he parked his vehicle while he was fishing," the report states.

A fight broke out, with the suspect and the victim hitting each other.

"The suspect grabbed an 'ice pick' type weapon and stabbed the victim twice," the report states.

The victim was flown by helicopter to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton for treatment.

The suspect, identified as David Christner, 58, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail.
