BRADENTON -- A 47-year-old Bradenton man was charged with killing his 47-year-old girlfriend early Sunday by the Bradenton Police Department.

Linda Brown died of a gunshot wound just before 6:25 a.m. Sunday at Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Terry Braddy, her live-in boyfriend, was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Manatee County jail Sunday afternoon and charged with one count of unpremeditated murder, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office website.

At about 5:20 a.m., police responded to a 911 call at the couple's residence in the 200 block of 19th Street East. They discovered Brown with a gunshot wound to her abdomen.

The Manatee County Homicide Investigative Unit has taken over the investigation.

On Sunday afternoon, a neighbor who did not want his name used, said he heard a gunshot coming from the direction of house Saturday night. There is no indication if the fatal shooting and the gunshot Saturday are related.

Brown's slaying is the eighth homicide in Bradenton during 2013, according to police.

Braddy did not have a previous criminal record in Manatee County, according to the Manatee County Clerk of Court website and sheriff's office website.
