Marijuana seized at 2 Manatee schools

MANATEE -- A scheduled search for narcotics at Southeast High School on Thursday turned up a small amount of marijuana in a student's car.

Marijuana was also found on a student Thursday at Buffalo Creek Middle School.

Both incidents were detailed in Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports on Friday.

Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, a sheriffs office team with K-9s began searching the student parking lot at Southeast High, 1200 37th Ave. E.

K-9 Stitch began to alert on a suspect's car, according to a sheriff's office report.

Other K-9s also picked up on the scent, the report adds.

The driver of the vehicle was escorted by school administration to the parking lot, where a small baggie of a leafy green substance and a small glass pipe were found, according to the report.

The suspect was taken to the school discipline office, where he was released to his parent, the report states.

A student attending Buffalo Creek Middle, 7320 69th St. E., was searched by school administration, the report indicates.

Two baggies of marijuana weighing 1.7 grams were found in the possession of the student, the report adds.
