Sarasota Singles Society: The group meets 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Chart House Restaurant, 201 Gulf of Mexico Dr., Longboat Key. A new, socially-focused singles group debut, the free event is open to all area singles and a three-course dinner will be offered for $49.95. Take Stock in Children Alumni Association: Take Stock in Children Manatee will host a special evening event to celebrate and kickoff its new Alumni Association 5-7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the E.R. Beall Center, 700 13th Ave. E. Bradenton. This special event is sponsored by Bealls Inc. and Tropicana and is for past, present and future students, mentors and friends. Artists' Guild of Anna Maria Island: The group meets for a social 6:30 p.m. followed by a program Nov. 4 at the Church of the Annunciation, 4408 Gulf Dr., Holmes Beach. Members of the Military Order of the World Wars: The group meets for Lunch 11:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at the Renaissance, 1816 9th St. W, Bradenton. Lunch: $16.

Gulf Coast Porcelain Artists: A group of both Manatee and Sarasota will be meeting 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 8 and the second Friday of every month September-May at the Fruitville Public Library, 100 Coburn Road, Sarasota. National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Manatee Chapter 230: The group will meet at noon Nov. 13 at Westminster Manor, 1700 21st Ave. W., Bradenton. Marine Corps Birthday Ball: The 238th Marine Corps Birthday Ball will begin with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at IMG Academy, 4350 El Conquistador Pkwy., Bradenton. Lakewood Ranch Garden Club: The group meets 9:15 a.m. Nov. 11 and every second Monday of each month September through May at the Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Lakewood Ranch. The Nov. 11 will be a trip to a docent led tour of the Mable Ringling Rose Garden. The group will car pool from town hall. Lunch will be at the Treviso restaurant. Cost $10, plus the cost of lunch. Manatee River Orchid Society: The group meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 and every third Monday of each month at Water's Edge of Bradenton, 3132 21st Lane W., Bradenton. Presentation: treatment of diseases and pests that attack orchids. Bring your questions on growing, watering, sunlight, fertilizing and potting for our seasoned growers to answer. Bradenton Woman's Club: The group meets 7 p.m. Nov. 18 and every third Monday through April at 1705 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Organized in 1913, a service club to the community, the Bradenton Woman's Club is open to new memebership. Information: 941-896-6541.
