Blue Jays hire Seitzer as hitting coach

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays named Kevin Seitzer hitting coach on Thursday.

Seitzer, 51, joins manager John Gibbons' staff after most recently serving a similar role with the Kansas City Royals from 2009-12.

A runner-up to unanimous winner Mark McGwire for the 1987 AL Rookie of the Year Award, the former third baseman hit .295 with 74 homers, 285 doubles and 613 RBI during his 12-year major league career.
