Clearwater Central Cath. (7-1) at IMG Academy (7-1)

Time: 7 p.m.

The scoop: This shapes up to be a spooktacular Halloween game as the Class 3A Marauders trek south to battle an Ascenders squad that is well-rested. ... CCC is ranked No. 3 in the latest Associated Press 3A poll. ... The Marauders do their damage as an unselfish club, one that possesses a variety of weapons as evidenced by last week's district championship performance in which 11 players combined for 325 rushing yards and six found the end zone. ... The defense is pretty stout, led by junior DB/WR Demetri Royer (three INTs), senior DE/WR Justus Reed (seven sacks) and senior LB/FB Connor Davis (80 tackles). IMG is coming off its bye week, which followed the Ascenders' lone loss of their inaugural season. ... That 27-24 defeat came at Jacksonville Trinity Christian, which is ranked No. 2 in 3A by the AP. ... IMG's run defense has allowed a paltry 93.9 yards per game, second in the area to Manatee, but the Ascenders were gouged by Jalin Buie, who rushed for 185 yards two weeks ago, including a backbreaking 80-yard TD. ... RB Bo Scarbrough (Alabama commit) was held to 85 rushing yards, and a big rebound game is needed for the Ascenders to avoid a late-season dip.

Prediction:

IMG 21, CCC 20
