Sheriff: Driver of stolen car gets away after chase in Bradenton

October 29, 2013

MANATEE -- The driver of a stolen car was able to get away after a chase by deputies through Bradenton and into Sarasota County early Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 12:31 a.m. in the 500 block of Cortez Road West, deputies were making a felony traffic stop on a stolen vehicle and were issuing the occupants commands, when the vehicle sped off, according to a news release.

Deputies chased as the vehicle headed east on Cortez Road and eventually turned south on U.S. 301.

"The vehicle entered Sarasota County and at this point deputies from Sarasota had not yet joined the pursuit so it was terminated," the report states.

No description of the stolen car or its occupants was included in the report.
