Manatee County must control invasive Brazilian pepper trees

October 28, 2013

Manatee County has many good programs like Keep Manatee Beautiful; however, there seems to be an oversight in one area. The county is becoming overgrown with Brazilian pepper trees.

These trees are not just unsightly but they also create havoc on our wetlands by forcing out and killing our mangrove trees. These pepper trees are now popping up all over the county.

The state of Florida has the Brazilian pepper tree on its prohibited plant list. Theses trees must be controlled to protect our county's natural nature appeal.
