2 from Bradenton arrested in cocaine bust in Charlotte road stop

MANATEE -- Two Bradenton residents were charged with cocaine trafficking after a routine interstate traffic stop Sunday.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported Warren Davis, 36, Bradenton, was was driving a 2013 Nissan rental car northbound on Interstate 75 at 5:36 p.m. Sunday in Charlotte County driving 55 mph when a traffic stop was initiated at the 150-mile marker.

Shawnbria Williams, 23, Bradenton, occupied the right-front passenger seat, according to the FHP trooper who reported noticed the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the Nissan and other indicators of criminal activity.

Williams reportedly provided the trooper with a false name and later recanted her story.

A search of the Nissan reportedly revealed two 1-gallon Zip Lock bags containing 2 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in the trunk hidden in the spare tire compartment.

The suspects were booked into the Charlotte County Jail with no bond, according to the FHP report.
