Hit-and-run driver sought in Bradenton crash

— A driver who ran a red light and crashed into a woman's car left the scene of the accident on 53rd Avenue West in Bradenton on Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The unidentified driver struck a Toyota Camry driven by a 72-year-old Bradenton woman, according to the highway patrol. The woman had a green left turn arrow and was attempting to turn left onto 26th Street West when the unidentified driver ran a red light and attempted to head east on 53rd Avenue West.

The driver's vehicle, described as a dark-colored SUV, collided with the left rear of the Toyota.

The woman was uninjured.

The accident happened around 8:55 p.m. Friday, investigators said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has any knowledge about the identity or location of the driver or vehicle is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800.
