BRADENTON -- A teen girl was shot from behind while she was walking to her home at a Bradenton condominium complex earlier Saturday evening, according to police.

The 17-year-old victim was shot in the right shoulder as she was walking outside the City Walk condos, 2019 5th St W., around 4:30 p.m. She was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Bradenton Police Lt. James Rackey said.

The girl did not see the shooter and there were no witnesses, according to police.

A dark-colored SUV that was seen leaving the area could "possibly" be involved, Rackey said.

Just a few blocks away, hundreds of families were attending a free "trunk-or-treat" Halloween event at McKechnie Field that kicked off at 4 p.m.

No further information about the incident was immediately available.
