BRADENTON -- A missing 87-year-old Bradenton man was found Friday morning in Georgia after local police had issued a Silver Alert.
Mathew Louis Bakala was reported missing to Bradenton police by family Thursday afternoon.
Bakala had last been seen in the 4400 block of Fairways Boulevard, within the Pinebrook/Ironwood Condominium Complex in Bradenton.
Bakala, who has a history of dementia, was in need of medical care.
He was located at 10:40
a.m. Friday by Marietta, Ga., police near Atlanta.
Police were able to track Bakala based on his credit card usage: Venice at 5 p.m. Thursday; to Jasper, Fla., at 10:45 p.m.; and to Atlanta at 2:30 a.m. Friday.
Bakala was located by Marietta police after he got help replacing a flat tire, according to Bradenton Police Capt. William Fowler.
"They confirmed that it was in fact him and that he was in good health," Fowler said.
Marietta police are with him now, Fowler added.
"Now we are making arrangements for someone in the family to go and get him," Fowler said.
