Bradenton police investigate bullying incident

October 25, 2013

BRADENTON -- Bradenton police are investigating as a bullying incident a report that 13-year-old boy pushed a 10-year-old special education student off her bicycle and called her stupid.

The incident happened Thursday in the 400 block of 15th Street East, police said.

The victim and a 13-year girl she was with were being followed by the suspect and two other boys.

When the suspect pushed the girl off the bike, the older girl stepped in to defend her. That's when the suspect began throwing large sticks at both girls, police said.

No one was injured.

The victim is a special education student at King Middle School, police said.

"The victim's mother advised that this is an ongoing issue with the suspect, and she has informed the school about it," the report states.

The responding officer prepared arrest paperwork for the suspect and forwarded it to the detective division, "with the hope that they can obtain video of the incident from Family Dollar," the report states.
