UNIVERSITY PARK -- Nordstrom Rack, a fast-growing chain that sells Nordstrom's normally expensive leftovers at deeply discounted prices, is on track to open Nov. 7.

The 35,000-square-foot store, in the Shoppes at University Town Center at 7978 Cooper Creek Blvd., is gearing up for its grand opening at 9 a.m. that day.

Shoppers are encouraged to begin tailgating at 8 a.m., says manager Karina Attar-McDonald. Early birds can enter to win one of 30 $100 Nordstrom gift cards. One winner will score a grand prize of early entry into the store and a $1,000 Nordstrom gift card.

Almost all 50 job opportunities have been filled, but Attar-McDonald is planning to hire a few more employees. To apply, visit careers.nordstrom.com.

The store is in the Benderson Development-owned shopping center next to Total Wine and across the street from the University Town Center mall, which is set to open in the fall of 2014.
