Crewe of De Soto raises funds for Special Olympics

On Sept. 28 the Crewe of De Soto spent the morning helping members of the Special Olympics raise funds by participating in a Bowl-A-Thon. MTI SkillsUSA students clean up Palma Sola

SkillsUSA students from the Marine Service Technology program at Manatee Technical Institute cleaned up Palma Sola Bayfront on Oct. 18. The students were there to perform boat trials to test the engines on which they had worked. The MTI program prepares students for Mercury Marine certifications and employment in the marine service industry.

University Park Women's Club holds kickoff luncheon

University Park Women's Club held its season kickoff general meeting and luncheon at the Sarasota Yacht Club on Oct. 16. Their guest speaker was Dolly Jacobs, Sarasota's own aerialist and daughter of reknowned clown, Lou Jacobs. She shared wonderful film of their circus acts, her life story of performing all over the world and her current involvement with the circus locally.
