EAST MANATEE -- Hyundai of Bradenton, now at 2503 First St., will move to the empty lot by the Toyota of Lakewood dealership on State Road 64 East.

Gettel Automotive Group purchased Hyundai of Bradenton in 2010 and always planned to relocate it next to the Gettel-owned Toyota dealership. Its name will change, to Hyundai of Lakewood. Construction will start mid-February and should be completed no later than Dec. 31, 2014, company officials said.

"We acquired it with the intention of relocating it out east," said Bob Bisplinghoff, chief operating officer for Gettel Automotive Group. "We see the growth in Bradenton moving out east towards Lakewood Ranch. It's more accessible for our customers to the north."

The 33,400-square-foot dealership will carry all the latest Hyundai models and will sell new and used cars. The building, designed by Spring Engineering of Holiday, will feature Hyundai's latest facility design and will be constructed on a 5.6-acre parcel. It will feature a 7,200-square-foot showroom with a state-of-the-art service center.

According to documents filed with Manatee County, the dealership will have space for an inventory of nearly 300 cars.

Gettel owns three Hyundai, Nissan and Acura dealerships in Sarasota, five Toyota, Scion, and Hyundai dealerships and a pre-owned supercenter in Bradenton. The company also owns stores in Gainesville and Ocala.
