Luke Bryan's maybe the hottest thing in country music these days. He beat out megastars Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean for the Academy of Country Music's Entertainer of the Year Award, his new album, "Crash My Party," sold half a million copies in its first week, and the single "That's My Kind of Night" reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Local country fans will have a chance to see Bryan do what he apparently does really, really well when he comes to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa on Friday.

Opening are Thompson Square, who won the ACM award for Vocal Duo of the Year, and Florida Georgia Line, a duo with, as you might expect, one member from Georgia and one from Florida. (The Florida member is from Ormond Beach, to be specific.)

Bryan writes most of his own material, and writes for other country artists too. On this tour, he's concentrating on his own stuff, but at least at some shows he's been inviting the opening acts to join him mid-show to do covers by people like Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars.

Details: 7 p.m. Oct. 25, MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, 4802 U.S. 301, Tampa. Tickets: $29.50-$6745. Information: 813-740-2446,
