SARASOTA -- Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department are conducting a death investigation after a body was found at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday near the boat ramp at 10th Street and U.S. 41 in Sarasota.

Workers cutting bushes found the "badly decomposed" body, which investigators believe had been in the area for at least several days, according to a news release.

"The workers cut the bushes weekly and told investigators they did not notice anything out of the ordinary last week," the report states.

The medical examiner will have the body removed and an autopsy will be completed to determine the cause of death, police said.
