October 22, 2013

BRADENTON -- A Bradenton police officer shot a woman with his Taser when she tried to escape while being arrested, according to police.

About 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of 23rd Street East, the officer, who had determined the woman was wanted on an arrest warrant, was trying to place the woman in his patrol car, when she broke free from his grip and ran away, according to a report.

The officer "gave chase and deployed his Taser as she began to pull away from him," the report states.

The woman's name was not immediately available.
