Couple robs gas station in Bradenton

October 22, 2013

MANATEE -- A couple -- including a woman wearing "a teddy bear or Pokemon mask covering her head and face" -- late Monday robbed a BP gas station in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 10:27 p.m., the couple entered the station at 3101 15th St. E. The man pointed a silver and black, semi-automatic handgun at a clerk and a customer, both women, according to a news release.

The gunman ordered the customer to lie on the ground, but she ran out of the store, according to the report.

The female robber held out a bag and told the clerk to fill it with money out of the register. Once she had the money, she and the gunman ran out of the store to the east, according to the sheriff's office.

Responding deputies, including K-9, searched the area but did not find anything, according to the report.

The man was described as wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt, dark camo pants and a black bandana over his face.

The woman was described as wearing a dark blue short T-shirt, black shorts, black shoes and "a teddy bear or Pokemon mask covering her head and face," the sheriff's office said.

This is the second time in two weeks that the station had been robbed.

Late on the evening of Oct. 8, a man and a woman robbed the station. There was nothing in the sheriff's report to suggest whether investigators believe the two robberies are connected.
