The Sporting News named Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez its National League Rookie of the Year.

And the voting wasn’t close.

According to the publication, Fernandez easily outdistanced his top rookie rivals for the honor, receiving 64 votes to runner-up Yasiel Puig’s four. Cardinals pitcher Shelby Miller and Atlanta teammates Evan Gattis and Julio Teheran each received two votes from players.

The National League Rookie of the Year as determined by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America will be announced in November, after the World Series.

Fernandez, 21, was dazzling for the last-place Marlins, going 12-6 with a 2.19 ERA that was second-best in the majors.

He becomes the fourth Marlins player honored as a top rookie by the Sporting News, joining Preston Wilson (1999), Dontrelle Willis (2003) and Dan Uggla (2006).

Outfielder Wil Myers of the Tampa Bay Rays was the Sporting News’ AL Rookie of the Year.
