Runaway cattle trailer ends up in Manatee ditch

October 21, 2013

MANATEE — No one was injured shortly after noon Monday on State Road 70 in Manatee County when a trailer loaded with cattle disconnected from the truck pulling it and overturned in a ditch.

A Florida Highway Patrol report does not say if any cows were injured in the one-vehicle accident.

The driver of the 2002 Ford F350, a 50-year-old Bradenton man, was traveling west on State Road 70 approaching Natalie Way when his trailer unhitched, traveled to the north shoulder of the road, struck a fence and overturned into the ditch.

There was no faulty equipment on the trailer, the report adds. No charges were filed in the case.
