Writer pinpoints what's wrong with America today

October 21, 2013

I have been trying to keep up with the letters that have appeared in the Bradenton Herald. Most have grasped the seriousness of what has just transpired. The Oct. 17 letter by Mr. Frank Daly finally triggered my thoughts exactly.

I wish to quote the last paragraph: "When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation."

I could not have said it better.

Somehow tolerance and respect have lost their meaning. This president had no tolerance nor respect for the opinions of his people by not negotiating or discussing the issues with those who cared more about our country than he did. This last vote was not a win for anyone.

If our nation survives the next three years, we will have been blessed. God bless America!
