MANATEE -- Traffic is flowing again after two crashes near the Interstate 75/U.S. 301 interchange in Ellenton created havoc for the morning commute.

The crash on Interstate 75 was cleared at 8:30 a.m. , according to Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Greg Bueno. The crash was originally reported at 6:39 a.m. shutting down the right lane on the southbound span of the J.D. Young Bridge over the Manatee River.

The number of injured was still unconfirmed, but as many as five people may have nee transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital. Troopers are at the hospital investigating the cause of the crash, Bueno said.

A second crash on U.S. 301 near I-75 has also been cleared, according to Bueno. The crash was reported at 7:25 a.m. and caused slowdowns as well.

Traffic into downtown Bradenton on the DeSoto and Green bridges was slow moving as a result of the crashes and diverted traffic.
