USF Sarasota-

Manatee joins effort to fund scholarship

SARASOTA -- The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee is partnering with the Patterson Foundation's Legacy of Valor for a new scholarship to honor veterans.

From Oct. 15 through Nov. 15, donations of $25 to $1,000 made by credit card for creation of the Veterans Legacy Scholarship will be matched 100 percent by the Patterson Foundation.

USF Sarasota-Manatee is one of only 12 nonprofits selected to participate in the fund-matching campaign.

The Veterans Legacy Scholarship supports veterans by offering a nonrepayable scholarship to cover the gap between veteran eligibility for the GI Bill and tuition.

The Patterson Foundation will match donations up to the goal of $168,500.

USF Sarasota-Manatee has more 120 student veterans enrolled in classes. USF Sarasota-Manatee was also named the fourth-most veteran-friendly college in the country by Military Times.

Donations for the Veterans Legacy Scholarship should be made through GiveToLegacyofValor.org.
