October 15, 2013

MANATEE -- A masked intruder early Tuesday beat a Bradenton man with crowbar during a home invasion robbery early Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The 48-year-old victim was asleep in his residence at the Wayside Glen Mobile Home Park, 5120 14th St. W., when the assailant entered the trailer and demanded money. When the resident said he didn't have any, the intruder hit him with a crowbar, according to a news release.

The victim could not find his cell phone to call for help, according to the sheriff's office.

"He could not move and remained lying on the living room floor until he finally crawled to the front door to yell for help," the report states.

Paramedics took the victim to Blake Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

The attacker was described as wearing a black ski mask and white T-shirt.
