MANATEE COUNTY -- Two Hann 40 Peacemakers built in Manatee County are on their way to the Gulf of Guinea.
M&C Marine Operations, LLC purchased two fast patrol/escort boats and will place them in operations as soon as they arrive at their duty station. These boats, built by Hann Powerboats, have an economical patrol speed of 27 to 35 knots. They have a sprint speed in excess of 46 knots.
These boats are designed to operate in waters as shallow as 0.8 meters. They also run offshore with a range in excess of 450 nautical miles at their fast patrol speed.
The Hann 40 Peacemakers have a variable payload capacity of up to 5,000 pounds while maintaining patrol speed. In emergency situations the boats can execute a 360 degree turn in approximately 20 seconds.
The two boats will become part of an international and commercial effort to protect seafarers from attacks from pirates. In the last two years there has been a substantial increase in the number of ships attacked in the Gulf of Guinea.
