PHOTOS: A look inside Bradenton's luxury real estate

BRADENTON -- Some of Bradenton's most expensive waterfront properties were on display last week with some tips from leading luxury broker Michael Saunders.

Saunders, the founder of Michael Saunders & Co., opened the doors to five waterfront homes in northwest Bradenton to brokers, showing off properties valued between $2,449,900 and $4.5 million.

Saunders provided an overview of the homes being offered and tips to brokers, including the importance of the history behind the area and the property -- especially in northwest Bradenton where Hernando DeSoto chose to make a landing.

"This northwest part of Bradenton has been the hub of all kinds of activity. It was farmland, it was a maritime port," Saunders said. "It was very, very instrumental and very

important in the growth of Manatee County."

The luxury market inventory appears to be holding steady, as Manatee County had 162 luxury homes, priced at $1 million or more, in August, which is a 0.6 percent increase from last year, according to the latest data by Florida Realtors, and the county saw 22 new luxury listings in August, standing as a 144 percent jump year-over-year.
