Faces in business: Philip Yetzer

October 9, 2013

Title: President and CEO

Company: Backyards 'N More/Drips 'N Puddles

What was the best business advice you ever received?

Don't give up on your dreams.

If you could choose another profession, what would it be?

Veterinarian. I grew up around farm animals and pets, plus I am a country boy at heart.

What's the biggest risk you have taken in your career?

Actually, just pulling the trigger for starting Drips 'N Puddles. Leaving the corporate world where I made a lot of money, with a 401K, a company car, first-class business travels, to start this company from scratch and work with the people I love. We started out with 62 service accounts and we now have 7,000. It was a risk worth taking.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you start?

Home, in Ellenton. I saw every state in the union and almost every airport in the world. ... I just enjoy being home.
