Local Roundup | BCS rallies, tops Shorecrest

The host Bradenton Christian Panthers rallied to win the final two sets Monday en route to a 3-2 victory in prep volleyball over the St. Petersburg Shorecrest Prepatory School Chargers. The Panthers (7-10) won by scores of 25-18, 21-25, 20-25, 25-17 and 15-8. Leading the way for the Panthers were Abbie James (12 kills, 14 digs), Savannah Shontere (29 digs), Haley Waldo (31 assists) and Jayme Haynes (nine kills). BAYSHORE 3, FOUNDATION CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 0 — The host Bruins won 25-8, 25-13, 25-9 in a non-district contest over the Panthers of Valrico. Bayshore (9-8) was led by the duo of Kristen Fleury (eight service aces, 16 assists) and Ashlyn Davis (nine service aces). MANATEE 3, BOOKER 0 — Kelly Stewart led the host Hurricanes in a sweep of the Tornadoes by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-10 with five aces and five kills. Manatee’s junior varsity won 2-0 by scores of 25-18, 25-19. Leading the effort were Alysha O’Dell (three kills) and Olivia Haughey (three kills).
