It took 60-plus years to open the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C.
On Oct. 1, numerous World War II veterans wanted to visit their memorial but because Washington was closed... so was their memorial.
These men and women who fought the Germans, Italians and Japanese for four-plus years were not going to let "do not cross" tapes and barricades stop them. They cut the tape and moved the barricades.
They came to renew friendships and to honor all those brave men and women who died in that war.
If this government shutdown continues past Oct. 17, every single senior citizen who paid into Social Security for decades won't get their Social Security check. All the money allocated for Social Security does not belong to the U.S. government!
I sincerely hope all those politicians in Washington will be ready for thousands of senior citizens storming the barricades in Washington like they stormed the beaches of Normandy.
