BRADENTON -- Marc Dosogne, the new chief executive officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, hit the ground running Tuesday.

Appointed in August to succeed the retiring Carl Weeks, the 60-year-old Chicago native officially started his new job this week and immediately went to work.

"The staff has got me on a busy schedule," Dosogne said Wednesday.

"We've had meetings to get into the issues, get a sense of where we are and what we're working on," Dosogne said. "I've been immersing myself into the finances and behind-the-scenes information in getting up to speed."

A 28-year Boys & Girls Club veteran, Dosogne spent the past decade as CEO of the organization's branch in Oshkosh, Wis.

While there, he led the campaign for a new club and administrative center and a successful endowment campaign. Under his leadership, the club, board, staff and programs earned a number of regional and national awards.

Dosogne will receive the Boys & Girls Club Midwest Region's "Heart & Soul" Award in St. Louis Thursday. It is given annually to a CEO who has demonstrated an accomplished career, strong leadership and mentoring.

That follows another honor Dosogne recently received -- the Midwest Region Horizon Award for his professional accomplishments and commitment to the Boys & Girls Club.

He and wife, Julie, have bought a home in Bradenton and begun enjoying their new surroundings with 16-year-old son, Andre.

"We've taken a bike ride and hope to do it a lot more," Dosogne said.
