MANATEE -- A Bradenton man early Wednesday was beaten unconscious and robbed when he went outside his home to smoke a cigarette, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim told deputies that sometime between 3 and 4:45 a.m., he went outside his home in the 1000 block of 35th Avenue West, and was immediately attacked by three men, according to a news release.

"The suspects began punching and kicking the victim until he fell unconscious," the report states. "He awoke to discover $20 missing from his pocket."
