Local roundup | Out-of-Door Academy Thunder beat Bradenton Christian in 3A-10 volleyball

A short ride to Bradenton did little to deter the Out-of-Door Academy's volleyball team Tuesday night.

Led by Natalie Buffet, the Thunder dispatched host Bradenton Christian 3-1 in a Class 3A-District 10 match.

Buffett had 19 kills and 14 digs, and Monica Costa had 27 assists for ODA (7-2, 4-2).

Anchoring the defense was Cameron Graham, who had 27 digs.

Kara Saylor had six aces, Hayley Waldo added 25 assists and Abbie James added 10 kills and 13 digs for the Panthers (6-9, 1-4).

SOUTHEAST 3, GULFPORT BOCA CIEGA 0 -- The Seminoles went on the road and scored a Class 5A-District 10 sweep.

Emma Bartges had 14 kills and four digs and Casey Harman added 11 kils for the Seminoles (4-12, 2-1).

Megan Stevens had four aces and eight straight service points in Game 1 and Rachamily Robles had 11 digs and a pair of kills for Southeast.

Boca Ciega won the JV match 21-25, 25-2, 15-12.

SARASOTA 3, PALMETTO 0 -- The host Sailors defeated the Tigers (3-12).

BAYSHORE 232, SOUTHEAST 240 -- The Bruins earned their first win of the season at The River Club.

Andrew Kurutz fired a 50 for Bayshore (1-5), while William Kelly carded a match-low 46 for the Seminoles (0-6).

BRADEN RIVER TRI-MATCH -- The Pirates squeaked past Manatee, firing a 169 to beat the Hurricanes by a stroke at Waterlefe.

Andrew Hammet shot a 38 and Max Everett had a 42 for Braden River (8-6), while Manatee's Sai Gadam took medalist honors with a 37.

Robby Tinglor added a 40 for the Canes.

Matt Pletcher had a 45 for Palmetto.

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 149, SARASOTA CHRISTIAN 154 -- The Panthers scored a win at the Ritz-Carlton.

Phillip Knowles and Landry Miller each carded a 34 for BCS (8-1), while Jack Knowles had a 40 and Duncan Sikkema added a 41.

It was the first loss for the Blazers (3-1).

OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 164, SAINT STEPHEN'S 166 -- The Thunder nicked their rivals at Lakewood Ranch Country Club.

Max Coutsolioutsos shot a team-low a 38 for ODA (3-2), while Evan Murphy and Gary Deng each added a 40.

The Falcons' Jack Cen took medalist honors with a 37, and Christopher Pollen had a 39 for Saint Stephen's.

Girls golf

MANATEE 198, LAKEWOOD RANCH 214 -- Gianna Tomeo led the Hurricanes to victory at Lakewood Ranch Country Club.

Tomeo took medalist honors with a 38. Teresa Morrissey had a 47 for the Mustangs (4-2).

SAINT STEPHEN'S 128, ODA 210 -- Michelle and Vanessa Yan led the Falcons to a victory at Terra Ceia.

Michelle shot a 28 and Vanessa a 29 for Saint Stephen's (1-0).

PALMETTO 184, BOOKER 237 -- The Tigers posted a win Monday at Palm Aire. Josh Whitson fired a 43 for the Tigers (4-5).
