Manatee woman's early walk ends in armed robbery

MANATEE — A gunman early Sunday robbed a 24-year-old woman out for a walk, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 2 a.m., the woman, who lives in the 2900 block of 50th Avenue West, went for a walk. As she neared the 4700 block of 30th Street West, a silver four-door car pulled up next to her and a male reportedly got out holding a handgun, according to a news release.

The suspect punched the woman in the face and took her purse, jumped back in the car and drove north on 30th Street West. The area was searched, but the suspects were not located, according to the report.
