Cross country | Bayshore's Canaan Meester-Kitterman second at Manasota Track Club Invitational; Braden River girls fourth

SARASOTA -- Bayshore's Canaan Meester-Kitterman turned in a second-place finish to lead area runners at Saturday's Manasota Track Club Invitational at McIntosh Middle School.

Meester-Kitterman finished in 16 minutes, 27.50 seconds. Timber Creek's Brandon Marquez won in 16:03.90, leading his team to the boys team title in the 15-team event.

Cal Davidson Turner of Cardinal Mooney came in fifth overall in 17 minutes flat. The Cougars placed fifth as a team, one spot ahead of Bayshore.

R.J. Brown led Braden River in 17th place at 18:02.70. The Pirates came in ninth.

The Braden River girls turned in the area's best team performance, coming in fourth behind champion North Port. Asia Borman led the way for the Pirates by finishing 13th in 22:05.70.

Southeast, paced by Elsa Lopez (17th, 22:23.80), came in sixth, and Palmetto was seventh. Hannah Decker finished 30th in 23:20.30 to lead the Tigers.
