Forbes set to open local office
Forbes Property Group is set to open a new real estate office in Bradenton in October.
The grand Ooening celebration, 5255 Office Park Blvd, Suite 108, will be held at 4p.m., Oct. 25. The public and local real estate agents are invited for refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. Owner Lee Forbes will preside over the red ribbon cutting along with top agents Cheryl Shoultz, Todd Rentschler, Aby Brooks and Richard Fitzsimmons and client care manager, Mindy Cress.
The Bradenton expansion prompted Forbes to look for two new agents.
Chamber to host elections discussion
MANATEE COUNTY -- The Manatee Chamber of Commerce along with Keiser University and The Mosaic Co. will host a Q & A session on changes to the elections office.
Mike Bennett in his new role as supervisor of elections will answer questions from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 at the IMG Academy Golf Club, 4350 El Conquistador Parkway.
The former Florida state senator has made some changes in his new position as supervisor of elections.

Renovated showroom set to open Oct. 3
SARASOTA -- Affinity Kitchen & Bath -- offering fabrication, renovation and installation of countertops and cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms and closets - will unveil its newly renovated showroom and design center at 1035 N. Lime Ave., Sarasota.
The grand opening for the 1,750-square-foot showroom and 12,500-square-foot facility is set for Oct. 3.
The new center will accommodate the company's growth with room for additional design experts and support staff, while serving as a resource for clients to view countertop and cabinet textures.
Visit Sarasota wins Magellan award
SARASOTA -- Visit Sarasota County won a Travel Weekly 2013 Silver Magellan Award for its Sarasota In Shorts campaign.
The awards honor the best in travel as determined by a panel of judges from the travel industry.
Visit Sarasota launched the Sarasota In Shorts campaign to showcase the destination's warm climate, relaxed lifestyle and variety of activities, all of which can all be enjoyed in shorts. The campaign included a marketing alliance with JetBlue Getaways, advertising in broadcast, print, digital and transit in New York and Boston, a microsite, a Facebook contest, a media and consumer event in New York and the John F. Kennedy airport.
The Magellan Awards honors a broad range of industry segments including Hotels and Resorts, Travel Destinations, Cruise Lines, Online Travel Services, Airlines and Airports, Travel Agents and Agencies, Tour Operators and Car Rental Companies.
