Zombies to invade zip line at TreeUmph! Adventure Course in East Manatee

EAST MANATEE -- TreeUmph! Adventure Course has unveiled its first Halloween-time attraction, Zombie Zip tours.

Each Friday and Saturday night from Oct. 18 through Nov. 2, thrill-seekers ages 9 and older can navigate through a haunted path -- about 1,000 feet long -- infested with zombies before they reach the climb to the zip line. Then they'll zip 60 feet high and 650 feet across the forest.

"We had a number of people come in and say: 'You need to do something for Halloween,'" said co-owner Kathy Corr. "Being in the forest really lends itself well to a haunted trail. To combine the two seemed like a natural match."

Zip-liners are encouraged to wear costumes as long they're not loose or baggy, Corr said.

Prior to Zombie Zip, guests will be fitted with a safety harness and tested for climbing and zip-lining abilities.

Admission is $20 per person or $17 if a non-perishable food item is donated to benefit All Faiths Food Bank.

Participants are required to register online at treeumph.com or by phone at 855-322-2130.

TreeUmph! held its grand opening in January at 21806 State Road 70 E., Bradenton. The course was designed specifically for the 14-acre piece of land in rural Manatee County,
