BRADENTON -- One man was arrested early Wednesday after he robbed a downtown Bradenton convenience store of two cases of beer, according to Bradenton Police.

About 2:17 a.m., the man, Darren Hill, 44, walked out of the 7-Eleven store at 902 14th St. W. of two cases of beer, according to a report.

When a clerk confronted Hill, he put down one of the cases, reached into his pocket and told the clerk he had a gun, police said.

"The clerk feared he was going to be shot, so he let the suspect go," the report states.

A police officer said the suspect running away and gave chase but lost him. The suspect dropped both cases of beer while fleeing.

Hill was later located hiding in a back yard of a residence on 13th Street West, and was arrested without incident, police said.
