Jet's Pizza, known for its square slices, plans to be on SR 70 by end of December

BRADENTON -- A pizzeria chain, famous for its slabs of square-sliced deep dish with the crunchy corners, is set to open in East Manatee in December.

By the end of December Jet's Pizza will move into a 2,000-square-foot space at 8721 SR 70 E.

"That area is really growing. You've got Lakewood Ranch and other developing areas," said owner James Gregg. "In that area we have a lot of families who will come out and business people who want to get away for lunch."

Jet's will feature a 26-seat dining room and will also accommodate carry-out and delivery orders. Just how far delivery drivers will go hasn't been decided yet.

Gregg, who owns another Jet's on Fruitville Road in Sarasota, advises all newbies to order the deep dish, eight-corner pizza in Super Special style: mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, onions and green peppers.

"It's a very high quality product and we only use the best ingredients," he said.

But Jet's will have some competition. A Demetrio's Pizza is poised to open in the plaza across the street next month.

"I'm not worried about it. We have a great product," Gregg said. "Once people come in and try our pizza, they get hooked."

Jet's, slated to open the third or fourth week in December, will employ 15 to 20 people and will begin hiring in late November.
