All clear given at USF in Tampa after report of man with gun

TAMPA -- The all clear has been given at the USF Health complex on the university's Tampa campus following an alert warning of a possible armed intruder.

According to a tweet from USF's student paper, the Oracle, officials said University police received a call at 1:40 p.m. saying someone had seen a man jump a fence.

People inside the College of Nursing were evacuated while police searched the building.

Pedestrians were also asked not to walk north of that area.

After an extensive search lasting several hours, everyone was allowed back inside the campus buildings.

No armed intruder was located. An investigation is currently in progress.
