Chamber honors SCORE

The Manasota Chapter of SCORE received the Insignia Award for September from the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.

The award recognizes quality customer service and commitment to the community.

The Manasota Chapterof SCORE has more than 40 volunteers to assist with education and mentoring on a wide range of business issues.

As a nonprofit resource partner of the Small Business Administration, SCORE's small business experts have been helping people locally since 1965.

Rosedale to celebrate20th year with activities

EAST MANATEE -- Rosedale Golf and Country Club will celebrate its 20th anniversary in October with three days of activities for club members and the community.

Highlights include a private performance by artists from Opera Tampa, a golf tournament and skills contests, a car show, boat regatta, pet parade and fireworks display. The events will take place Oct. 24-27. Most of the events require a ticket or RSVP.

Concerts to whetappetite for blues

BRADENTON -- Realize Bradenton is launching the "Blues Bar Buzz," a three-concert series at local venues showcasing Albert Castiglia and Doug Deming and the Jewel Tones -- artists who will perform at the 2013 Bradenton Blues Festival on Dec. 7 at downtown Bradenton's Riverwalk.

At each event, festival tickets will be available for a $5 discount and festival hats, T-shirts and limited-edition posters will be for sale. A signed, limited-edition 2012 festival poster by Mary GrandPré will also be raffled off.

Johnette Isham, executive director of Realize Bradenton, said the series will "help shine a light on our region's celebrated blues venues and artists."

The Blues Bar Buzz promotion is co-sponsored by the Blues Music Magazine and the Suncoast Blues Society.

Doug Deming and the Jewel Tones will perform Nov. 3 at Ocean Blues, 1936 Hillview St., Sarasota. For more info about this concert, call 941-366-3010.

The 2013 Bradenton Blues Festival, a day of blues and inspired food and art, will return to downtown Bradenton's Riverwalk Dec. 7.

The 2013 lineup includes vocalist Shemekia Cope-and; Eddie Shaw & the Wolfgang; Danielle, Kris and Nick Schnebelen of TrampledUnder Foot; guitarist, singer, and songwriter Anthony Gomes; John Nemeth; Johnny Rawls; the Doug Deming and the Jewel Tones with Dennis Gruenling band; and Albert Castiglia.

Tickets are $30 in advance; $40 at the gate; $25 a person for groups of 10 or more; $20 for students; and $10 for children ages 5-12. Children four and younger will be admitted free.
