2 Palmetto women injured in drive-by shooting

PALMETTO — Two people were injured in a drive-by shooting Sunday morning in Palmetto, according to police.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., witnesses in the 300 block of 15th Street West told Palmetto Police Department officers a small, gold-colored car circled the block several times before slowing.

At least one of the occupants of the car shot multiple times at a group of people standing in front of a home, according to a report.

A 27-year-old woman and a 23-year-old, woman, both from Palmetto, were hit by debris from the gunfire. They were treated for minor injuries and released from Manatee Memorial Hospital, according to police.

A vehicle and a home were also struck by bullets, police said.

Palmetto police have several leads and several suspects, according to the report. Information about the suspects was not released.
