HOLMES BEACH -- Writer Nicole Quigley of Holmes Beach has been named a finalist among more than 380 entries in the prestigious Carol Awards from American Christian Fiction Writers.

ACFW announced the finalists at the recent 2013 International Christian Retail Show.

Since its inception in 2002, ACFW's Carol Award (originally the Book of the Year contest) has been the highest achievement for published authors of Christian fiction in the previous calendar year.

Quigley is one of three finalists in the Young Adult category with her book, "Like Moonlight at Low Tide -- Sometimes the Current Is the Only Thing That Saves You," from Zondervan.

Winners will be announced today during the awards gala at the ACFW Annual Conference in Indianapolis.

"The Carol Award winners are a shining example of the best and brightest the industry has to offer," said Steve Laube, president and literary agent for the The Steve Laube Agency of Phoenix.

The Christian fiction genre is attracting new writers as evidenced by the 2,700-member American Christian Fiction Writers made up of 29 local chapters in 21 states.
