Sarasota and Manatee investigators are seeking the public's help in a shootout early Saturday in North Sarasota that left at least two people injured.

Just after 4 a.m., Sarasota sheriff's deputies heard gunshots in the area, and 911 operators received calls of people in a black SUV and a black Dodge exchanging gunfire heading north on Washington Boulevard.

Minutes later, a black Dodge pulled into the 7-Eleven store at Tallevast Road and U.S. 301 in Manatee County, and one of the vehicle's occupants asked for 911 to be called, according to Sarasota deputies.

Both Sarasota and Manatee deputies responded and found that the vehicle had several bullet holes in it. Two people in the car were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening bullet wounds, according to the report.

Sarasota County deputies are investigating the shootout with assistance from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
