MANATEE -- A man who had five outstanding arrest warrants from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office dealing with the sale of illegal narcotics was arrested Thursday following a high-speed chase..

Christopher Barton was charged with selling cocaine and heroin and was incarcerated in the Manatee County jail Friday subject to a $275,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office website.

Deputies had Barton in their sights Tuesday, but he evaded capture, according to a sheriff's office report.

Barton escaped on foot Tuesday after a high-speed, two county pursuit, the report states.

On Thursday, however, while conducting a surveillance in the 800 block of Mecca Drive, Sarasota, Manatee deputies observed a Chrysler four-door car pull into a parking lot.

Detectives saw Barton exit a second story apartment and enter the front passenger seat.

Two other males were with him, including John Green, the report states.

Several units ended up converging on the Chrysler, and Barton was captured after a foot chase.

Detectives found $4,350 in cash on Barton's person and a bag containing $8,000 in stacks of $1,000 in a bag on the floorboard of the car, the report states.

Green was also arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, according to the report.

Green was released from the Manatee County jail Friday after posting an $8,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office website.
