September 12, 2013

MANATEE -- A 24-year-old man was arrested after he was spotted breaking into a duplex in Bradenton on Thursday afternoon, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The burglary was reported about 2:19 p.m. in the 1400 block of 45th Avenue Circle West. The caller gave deputies a description of the burglar, later identified as Matthew Trapenll, and said he was running into nearby woods, according to a news release.

Nearby construction workers and a deputy saw Trapenll throw a safe into a creek and run out the driveway, the sheriff's office said.

"The suspect ran behind the doughnut shop on 14th Street West and was cut off by another responding unit and placed under arrest," the report states.

The witness identified Trapenll as the man he saw break into the duplex, according to the sheriff's office.
