If you're a fan of the current crop of television talent shows, you've probably already got your tickets for Friday night.
Kelly Clarkson, the winner of the first season of "American Idol" and still the biggest star the show has spawned, and Maroon 5, headed by singer Adam Levine, one of the stars of "The Voice," will be at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre on Sept. 13 in Tampa.
Clarkson, who's opening the show (officially called the Honda Civic Tour"), hit the big time a little more than a decade ago when she came out on top of the initial "Idol" field in 2002. Her post-Idol career seemed destined to be short-lived when she was paired with runner-up Justin Guarini in the legendarily awful movie "From Justin to Kelly." But an unbroken string of great pop hits followed, highlighted by Clarkson's powerful and dynamic singing.
Maroon 5 also came onto the scene in 2002, although the band did have a flop album in the 1990s under their previous name, Kara's Flowers.
They've got enough of a pop sound and enough of a rock edge that they've found a huge fan base. Levine's sex appeal and his TV presence has broadened their audience too, no doubt.
