Common Core too expensive, ends local control

September 9, 2013

The Manatee County school board is still trying to follow the money from last year with the 2013-2014 budget in limbo. They will get to the bottom of the questionable accounting.

But can you imagine how it's going to be when Common Core is completely implemented? If holding accountable our own local leaders is challenging, imagine how we will be mismanaged when we completely lose local control!

Common Core is just another of many attempts over the last two decades to raise state academic standards. There have been around five top-down one-size-fits-all attempts to improve academic standards.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, not one big-government attempt has clearly established higher student achievement.

What makes us think this expensive Common Core will be any different?

Save money and improve academic standards by increasing local control!
