Local roundup | Bayshore volleyball takes down BCS in five-game match

The Bayshore volleyball team went the distance -- and then some -- to knock off host Bradenton Christian on Thursday.

Kristen Fleury had 31 assists, and Sierra Booth recorded 15 digs as the Bruins (3-1) earned a 26-24, 26-24, 25-13, 25-13, 16-14 victory in a non-district match.

Ashlynn Davis added 10 digs and three blocks for Bayshore.

The Panthers (0-3) got 13 kills from Abbie James, 22 assists from Haley Waldo, 19 digs from Savannah Shontere and nine aces from Kara Saylor.

SARASOTA CHRISTIAN 3, SOUTHEAST 0 -- The visiting Seminoles fell to 1-3 despite seven digs and seven assists from Lacey Sanchez and four kills from Marline Valcin.

The Blazers won the junior varsity match as well, knocking off Southeast 25-8, 25-21 to send the Seminoles to 0-3.

JUNIOR VARSITY -- The Manatee junior varsity team won a 25-19, 25-22 decision at Braden River, thanks to the serving of Cassidy David, Melanie Melicia and Olivia Haughey. The Hurricanes are 2-1.

Boys golf

PALMETTO 118, BAYSHORE 147 -- The Tigers (2-2) won a match shortened to six holes by rain at Imperial Lakewoods.
